Essence of Harmony

The Essence of Harmony, a residential design by Yuan-Shih Hsien, combines elegance and simplicity to express modern spatial elements. The use of the open space concept creates an overall brightness and spaciousness that is yet rich in layers. With light and shade, the textural aesthetics of iron, wood, and marble become more apparent.

The open living room and dining room space enhance visual spaciousness, while the low TV wall preserves the visual space and separates the living room and dining room. Gray marble coordinated with the warm color of the furniture and wood forms a distinctive scenario of dialogue. Different basic textures are applied to different living units to express the artistic conception and mood of the living area.

In the bedroom, various colors and modern simple spatial elements create an atmosphere of tranquility. The curved partition on the ceiling softens rigid lines and gives the space a three-dimensional layering. The semi-open sliding iron door lends flexible separation between the bedroom and the bathroom, with each retaining its independent area while simultaneously allowing light and shade to penetrate into the furthest corner of the space. Illuminated by sunlight or candlelight, the black and white marble in the bathroom creates a world for self-release to wash away the dust of the world and the soul.

The Essence of Harmony project started in April 2017 and finished in August 2018 in Taipei. The design showcases the designer's research on "Understatement and Profound Meaning in the City," using stone as the design tone and wood to soften the overall space. The large open windows allow light to spread across every corner, making the scenery outside the window the most beautiful painting in the space, day or night.

This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Essence of Harmony stands out for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, contributing to a better world.
